Our club and Foundation spent 5 years raising money to help the city of Sierra Vista begin planning for a Sierra Vista Kiwanis Skate and Bike Court. We are very proud that we were able to present nearly $90,000 to the city for this project. The SV Kiwanis Skate and Bike Court in Veteran's Park was dedicated in 2008.
In 2021 our club Foundation partnered with the city of Sierra Vista to help raise $35,000 to purchase a 20' LED Christmas tree for Veterans Park. We thank the community members and businesses who supported this project as well as the many Kiwanians who raised funds and donated money. In 2023, we raised another $5629 to grow the tree to 22'. Our partnership with the Sierra Vista Parks and Leisure department has been a real asset for our community.
The Kiwanis Family and friends pick up trash 3 times a year along Highway 90 from Tractor Supply to the Hospital. We love to see our Student Leadership programs working together in community service.
We offer the" Don't Meth With Us" program to 5th grade students in the local elementary schools. Program coordinator, Laura Miller teaches the students about the dangers of meth and other drugs. Each student receives a t-shirt when they attend the training.
The SV Kiwanis Community Foundation donated $7000 to the city of Sierra Vista Library to help fund this new amazing outdoor space at the library. The Kiwanis International Logo is on the plaque on the wall.
